Feed the Hungry Ministry

The Feed the Hungry Ministry is a collaborative effort with St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church (Smyrna, GA), other non-denominational churches, and local businesses. August 2014 marks our own 2-year anniversary of involvement. This initiative has been in full force since January 2011 when members of St. Thomas took sandwiches, eggs, blankets, and clothes to 7 homeless people under the bridge at 1-285 and Howell Parkway. Over three years later, the numbers have increased to hundreds of men, women, and children along the length of Howell Parkway. Provisions have expanded to complete lunch bags, hot soup, clothing,shoes, books, blankets, toiletries, and the occasional seasonal treats (Easter candy, Christmas presents, etc.). Volunteers have increased to the recognizable caravan of cars, each and every Saturday, including our own Teen Ministry joining us every 3rd Saturday.
