Lector Ministry

The Lector Ministry is a deeply satisfying and joyful expression of faith. Lectors reflect on the readings and attain a deeper and clearer understanding of what the “words” convey, and then proclaim the first and second readings.

Lectors must have an adequate speaking voice, self confidence, maturity, poise and the ability to read aloud. Lectors are assigned for all regular weekend Masses as well as Holy Days and special occasions.

This ministry requires its members to arrive 15 minutes prior to Mass, sign up and review the set-up. The most important time requirement is to allow oneself to become familiar with the message of your reading by practicing several times before Mass. Youth that have been confirmed are encouraged to participate in this Ministry. Training is provided and Ministers are assigned to the Mass of their preference.
